Last year, more than 40,000 veterans were homeless, according to the United State Dept. of Veteran Affairs. The good news is that’s roughly a 17 percent decrease from the year before. Significant progress has been made in this area during that last five to ten years, thanks to community efforts and programs, but there’s more work to be done.
That’s why we’re sponsoring the Second Annual Trivia Night Veteran Fundraiser, organized by the St. Louis Chapter of the Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals, (VAREP). Proceeds for this very special event will pay for housing needs and living expenses of local veterans, in an effort to prevent further homelessness for our hometown heroes. As a businesses owner, we know that programs work best when the dollars and the services are turned around locally. Your evening of fun and entertainment will help to spread a sheltered wing over veterans families right here in the St. Louis area.
Every veteran is changed by their service. Sometimes it’s a change in attitude and a greater appreciation for the everyday joys of life. But there are others who pay a much higher price. For those, government services and benefits often don’t meet all the needs. Events like “Trivia Night” help to fill the gaps.
